Biography:
Mark Heinrich has been Involved with information technology for three decades, After obtaining a master’s degree in Computer Science from California Polytechnical University, San Luis Obispo, he has worked in the telecommunications, hardware, aerospace, and defense industries. His work in cyber defense includes insider threat analysis and detection, architecture analysis, system hardening, and security evaluations. He is currently a risk analysis engineer contracted to the US government.
Abstract:
While most of the cybercrime headlines focus on the data breaches and hacks of large institutions, the average PC user is also often the victim of attacks. This presentation identifies tips and techniques that tech-savvy PC owners can use to further minimize their risk of losing data or having their home network hijacked by criminals. These include ways of minimizing the ways criminals can get into a personal computer and reducing the footprint we all leave when we use the internet.
